Need Help With Your Blank Wall?

Ever stared at a big blank wall and thought: “What the heck goes here?”
Yep—same. Whether it’s a hallway, a slanted attic ceiling, or a giant living room wall that’s throwing you for a loop, we’ve been there.

That’s why in this week’s YouTube video, we’re walking you through exactly how we select, size, and style artwork in even the trickiest spaces (the Firehouse primary bedroom sloped ceiling situation).

What you’ll learn:
– The golden rules for art sizing that never fail
– How to match art scale to room size
– Color pairing tips to make your wall pop (or whisper)
– What to do with awkward angles like slanted ceilings
– The #1 mistake people make when choosing art—and how to fix it fast

Plus, we’ll show you some go-to moves when traditional hanging just doesn’t cut it (hello stairwell chaos and tiny nooks).

Want to recreate the look? You can shop the exact pieces and artists featured on our Shop Page → Art.

We opted for a bright and soothing bedroom design, with texture, wood pieces to warm it, and pops of color to add personality. The art here we enlarged for photography, but we take you behind the scenes of the process to selecting the final art. Don't miss it!

We also cover some seriously good color pairing tricks—like how to warm up a neutral room or let one bold piece do the talking.

Watch it now, and share with a friend who’s tired of blank walls but too nervous to commit to the wrong thing.
You’ve got this—let’s turn those empty walls into “wow” moments.

Updating Your Kitchen or Bathroom COUNTERS? SLOW Your Roll, Sista!

Let’s talk backsplash. Because before you find yourself 37 tabs deep in tile samples, staring at “Sea Salt” vs “Mist Gray” wondering if you’ve lost your mind… pause. Breathe. We got you!

Design PSA:
Use your countertop material as your backsplash.

Yep. Same stone, slabbed up the wall. It’s sleek, it’s sexy, and it keeps you from drowning in 1,000 micro-decisions. Bonus: it makes your kitchen (or bath) look bigger, cleaner, and way more pulled together.

Fewer materials. Fewer grout lines. Fewer regrets. You're welcome.

BUT!
You can’t just slap a slab up there without thinking through a few key things:

🪵 Thickness matters.
Your slab might come in 2cm or 3cm. That choice affects everything—from how it looks under your window trim to whether it suddenly turns into an accidental shelf. 2cm is usually a better fit for walls (less chunky), but this is where measuring twice and planning ahead comes in real clutch.

At our Patton Lane project, we were inspired by these images:

backsplash, marble, kitchen counter, kitchen remodel, kitchen dreams, marble counters
The slab we picked for our Patton Lane project to be the counter and backsplash.

🔌 Outlets + switches = drama.
Stone isn’t exactly easy-breezy to cut into. Your fabricator might grumble. Your GC might sigh. Smile sweetly and say: “Aesthetics matter.” Because they do. Clean cutouts, minimal clutter, and no weird wonky plates halfway in a vein. This is the good stuff.

🎯 Layout = everything.
Do NOT let your fabricator freestyle this. Go. To. The. Warehouse. Take painter’s tape and block out your backsplash layout on the slab itself. Find the moment—the swirl, the vein, the drama—and center it behind your range or vanity. Then work backwards from there. Control the chaos.

🪞 Edge detail.
Do you want a sharp 90-degree edge? A soft eased corner? Don’t assume someone else will decide for you in a way you’ll love. They won’t. Own your edge. Literally.

This little slab-to-wall trick is a game-changer—and once you do it, you’ll never go back to picking six different tiles for one room. (Unless you love that. In which case, tile on.)

Teal’s Product Picks!

Mothers Day WHA?

Let’s be honest—Teal’s kids are more stressed about losing their Snapchat streak than picking out fresh-cut flowers in time for Mother’s Day.

Weekend plans? They've got them—just none of them involve brunch reservations, handwritten cards, or remembering what day it is. Soooo… sometimes we need to spoil ourselves and…. feel a little sexy yes! UMMMM BRACE YOURSELF Teal just got a fragrance for herSELF for Mother’s Day.

Get yourself a scent, and bring a friend flowers in this cute tote — who knew!?

And nothing makes Teal happier than an all-in-one NARS makeup stick! A friend gave it to her years ago for her birthday and she uses it everyday! No powder or cakey effects — just a quick dab of color and go!
